Our Impact
The impact of The Refuge Center is massive. Since opening in 2005, we have provided over 320,000 counseling sessions.
Our Biggest Accomplishments from Last Year
If we had to list our 5 biggest accomplishments from over the last year (which we did), it would look something like this!
- Provided 39,225 counseling sessions last fiscal year to 4,057 clients, 761 of those being children and teens.
- Raised the necessary funds to move into our permanent home, finished construction, and moved in! Capping off a 12 year journey and entering phase 5 (becoming debt-free) of our capital campaign!
- Began a partnership with the TN Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse services to allow clients without insurance and meet other criteria to come to Refuge for FREE.
- Placed two counselors in local Emergency Rooms to help those who are suicidal to feel seen and cared for in their crisis.
- Introduced and expanded new modalities such as Neurofeedback and Music Therapy. We will be introducing Movement and Somatic Therapy in early 2025.
The Largest Counseling Center In The Area
Leading the way in the mental health movement in this community!
With the need for services increasing, the stigma around mental health decreasing and with the growth in our community, the demand for what we offer is unprecedented. We are leading the way in the mental health movement in this community! We are now the largest counseling center in our area- serving over 4,000 people each year and providing over 39,000 counseling sessions annually. The vast majority of those sessions (up to 89%) are on a sliding scale so no one is turned away from getting help on the basis of income. We are working with Mayor Ken Moore and his Find Hope Franklin task force to eliminate suicide in our community. We are also a part of the Zero Suicide initiative and primary referral source for many churches, physicians, schools, and other non-profits in our community.
